Ikiru Went to Semarang

Yes! Ikiru – we visited Semarang after our last gashuku, almost four years ago. We came to this city to attend two most important agenda during November 18 – 19, 2017. First day. We went to attend our beloved friends and sensei, which celebrated their wedding day. Congratulation to Christian Hidayat and Anita Kasmana! We wish you nothing but the best for your marriage, may your love guide and bless you through this life.

 

Let’s move to the next agendas. Second day, is not less important than the first one – for sure. Our Ikiru Board of Director has been received an invitation from one of our aikido family. Gautama sensei - Bushido Semarang Dojo Cho himself invited us. It was really an honor for Ikiru Dojo, to be invited means we will get an opportunity to practice under new environment, which will expand our aiki horizon and enriched our technique.

Ikiru’s president director J. Halim (Dan IV) was not available to fulfill both of invitations. But in order to represent himself, he assigned our Dojo Cho S.Muliana (Dan IV) and Chief Instructor J. Lim (Dan IV) to visit Semarang. Not only them; P. Geraldi former Dojo Cho (Dan III), and S. Aditya (Dan III) – both of them are our respected sensei, also delivered too. Served under Dojo Cho, Danang and Lina (Shodan) from Ikiru Student Committee also being involved.

In the middle hotel’s main lobby, one hour before special class starting our beloved Bridegroom; C. Hidayat (Dan III) was standing and equipped with his keiko gi.What a surprise! He is joining our practice!

S. Muliana - Ikiru Dojo Cho met Gautama – Dojo Cho of Bushido Semarang Dojo for the first time, formally. Humble and open-minded people they are, greet one another in warm and friendly gestures. Guided by Gautama, all of participant stepped in their feet into sacred ground. Our Chief Instructor led this special class.

For almost two hours, all of participants had enjoyed the class. Started by introduction of basic ukemi – hombu style and Tai no Henko, all of participants prepared to go deeper. Our Chief Instructor emphasize to the 29 attendances,the importance of basic movements. He himself teaches the way to do proper basic movement; and showed how to perform proper ukemi. It was a rare occasion to see. We do hope this will bring a better understanding to all of participants.

J. Lim – Chief Instructor always told us, that great teacher always serve the class the way how professional chef serve food in the banquet. Appetizers were served, and all participants are ready forthe main courses. During that occasion, the main menu is consists of three main parts. They are Shihonage omote –ura waza , Ikkyo omote – ura waza, and Iriminage.  Each movement is detailed. Jiyu waza, mixed and combined flowing movement was the last part of our special class. It closed the practice session, leave all of participants with a very pride feeling deep inside.

We are, together we worked and practiced in harmony, in a full cycle of training. We started and closed the class and leave the arena with better understanding of what is ukemi and what is aikido; we bounded with mutual respect and mutual trust for better journey.
